Joseph Cantu

Joseph Edward Cantu

Joseph Cantu is a highly motivated advocate with a research focused approach to civil litigation and commercial transactions. In summary, having worked with political science / prelaw professors in San Antonio, Texas, and Syracuse, New York, as well as highly experienced general counsel in Alice, Texas, medical malpractice and personal injury counsel in Topeka, Kansas, as well as constitutional, real estate, and decedents and estate counsel in Austin, Texas, Mr. Cantu was well equipped to address the legal and factual issues presented by the commercial litigation and transaction-heavy practice of David Lindsay.

For example, since joining the firm in April 2025, Mr. Cantu has been instrumental in developing new internal procedures and legal arguments to make before Administrative Law Judges (“ALJ”) on behalf of the firm’s Medicare Certified clients in response to CMS contractors’ decisions to deny claims for payment. While the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services reports an unfavorable decision rate of 50% – 51.1% for claims appealed to the ALJ in 2025 and 2026, Mr. Cantu’s arguments have resulted in fully favorable decisions well above this rate.

When Mr. Cantu isn’t working, you’re likely to find him sparring with David or training at Richard Lord’s Boxing Gym where he’s volunteered as a boxing instructor for the past six years. If he’s not there, he is likely spending time with his wife Katya and their dog Lucy around town lake or listening to live music / socializing around Austin with their friends.
